Educational Institutions Reopen From Today

However, classes for students of standards I to V will continue to remain suspended until further orders.

The State government has notified a de-tailed SOP (standard operating procedure) for the fresh reopening of classes in all schools and colleges for maintaining the protocols of safety guidelines under the COVID-19 pandemic. A staggered timetable will be followed for all the classes from VI to XII.

“We will be following a wait and watch policy. In case there are cases of infection among students and teachers, we will have to review the decisions,” a government official said. However, the online mode of education will continue for students who prefer online classes rather than physically attend school.

A district-level task force chaired by the deputy commissioner and consisting of district heads of line departments concerned as members will be responsible for ensuring enforcement of the SOP.

Every Sunday, there will be community mobilization involving the head of the educational institution, village headman (gaonburha), parents, guardians, interested NGOs, SHGs, volunteers regarding pre-caution, and awareness on COVID-19, maintaining health and hygiene, etc.

In case a single COVID-19 positive case is detected on the school premises, the school should be opened the next day only for COVID-19 testing (rapid antigen) of students, teaching and non-teaching staff, cooks, helpers, etc. In the event of multiple COVID-19 positive cases on the school premises, the institution will be closed for a period of seven days. Subsequently. the school building, including the entire premises, desk and benches, toilets, drinking water station. etc., would be thoroughly sanitized.
