10 new Assam police commando battalions will be established in the state shortly. In response, the Assam police will also recruit 12,000 commandos and 23,000 civilian police vacancies. The DGP of Assam Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta announced the same news today.

DGP Mahanta said: “Today, in a meeting with Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma, various internal issues were discussed, including crime control measures, special department management, rapid investigations, and maintenance of law and order in the state. We will go because the Chief Minister. The Minister, Dr. Sharma, dreamed of decorating the Assam police in a new form, and therefore carried out radical reforms in the special department of the Assam police.”


DGP Mahanta also stated that it will set up new assault camps in some special areas of the state, through these areas, the geographic integrity of Assam or the threat to India can be prevented.

Assam Police Recruitment Key News 

The conference was designed to discuss ways of modernising the police force in wake of new forms of crimes being spotted by Police.

10 Professional Commando battalion will be formed to deal with emerging crimes and deal with these sternly. 

Two shifts duty at all police stations to be introduced to reduce the workload on police personnel. 

23,000 civil police personnel and 12,000 commando police personnel will be added to the system. 

Taking into consideration the welfare of police personnel, police quarters will be constructed. 

Recruitment rules for appointment into police forces will be modified to bring in more professionally qualified and skilled manpower into the system.

2 conferences will be held annually, one each for SPs and DCs, to enable them resolve different issues

7 forensic laboratories will be set up in the state.

1 month special leave will be given to police forces living in battalions in different stations to stay with their families.

Compulsory free health check-ups will be arranged for police personnel once in a year.
